SAY WHAT?

I'm blogging today to write about a strange yet well known
to most pwds experience that I had yesterday.
My friend (who is also blind) and I went to the neelsie for some Coffey
when we encountered the person. (the neelsie is the mall of the students
here at the uni). He introduced himself and I thought nothing about it
as I meet a lot of people here on a daily basis. Then he went on to say
to us, "You don't have to be this way." I thought he might be one of
those religious people who just want to heel you in the name of God. Let
me just make you understand here that I _am_ a christian. However, the
heeling of my blindness isn't really at the top of the priority list.
In fact, it isn't really on the list at all. I believe that God made me
blind for a reason and it's not for me to change his will. The person
then went on to tell us that our blindness is from the devil. Now
_that_ you mustn't say to me. The moment you say that to me you not only offend
me and the God you are supposed to serve, but you instantly prove to me
that you are an idiot. I could literary feel the anger flow through me
like vibrations on a plucked guitar string. Imagine: disability is from
the devil? Needless to
say, we had a long debate with him trying to convince him of his error.
It ended in him telling us he will pray for us. We told him
he may do so, and if it is in God's will, we would be heeled.
I just wish people like that would worry more about things that really
matter, instead of going around with their misguided beliefs and
offending most people.
